Monaco will be looking to open their account on home turf at their Stade Louis II ground on Saturday evening when they play host to Marseille.

Although Monaco have already picked up a league win this season, the hosts have still yet to record their first home win of this new campaign.

After a slow and disappointing start to the season which has resulted in a 1-1 draw at home with Nantes followed by back-to-back defeats against Lorient.

Lens respectively, Monaco finally got off the mark in terms of league wins with a 2-1 victory away from home at Troyes just before the international break.

Monaco will therefore be keen to pick up where they left off just before the break when they entertain Marseille on Saturday night but the break may have come at just the wrong time for Niko Kovac’s side.

The bigger picture shows that Monaco have won just three out of their last eight games overall in Ligue 1 and two of these three victories have been gained on the road.

Onto Marseille and the visitors have made a promising start to the new Ligue 1 season as they still remain unbeaten in the French top flight thanks to wins against Montpellier 3-2 away from home and a rousing 3-1 home win over Saint-Etienne just before the international break.

In between these two victories, Marseille were held to a 2-2 draw at home with Bordeaux before their local derby clash with Nice was suspended due to crowd disturbance which saw the Marseille players clashing with the Nice fans and the game was finally suspended when Marseille refused to return to the field.

Nevertheless, the bigger picture shows that Marseille have lost just one of their last 11 matches overall in the French top flight which came in the form of a 1-0 loss away at Saint-Etienne last season but results away from home have been fairly ordinary.

Marseille have registered just two wins out of their last 14 matches on their travels but the visitors have made a bright start to this new Ligue 1 campaign and may well fancy their chances of catching Monaco cold here on Saturday evening, especially as Monaco have yet to pick up their first home win of this new season.
