The Serie A will continue this weekend as Genoa play hosts to Napoli in Italy’s top flight with the home side looking to get their first point and goal of the season, while Napoli continue their march to regaining their Champions League spot.
Genoa were absolutely thrashed on the opening weekend of Serie A’s return as they travelled to champions Inter Milan were they lost 4-0 and in truth, showed absolutely no signs of being able to compete with the top half once again.
However, do take this result with a pinch of salt. Inter are the champions and rightfully so after a fantastic season, and losing 4-0 to them when you are a size of a club like Genoa, means relatively little for their campaign as a whole.
On the other hand, the club looked defensively all over the place at times and they will, at the very least, need a goal here against Napoli to ensure that they give their fans a little bit of hope in this new season where they are expected to fight for survival once more. They survived by just nine points last season.
As for Napoli, they started their new Serie A campaign in excellent fashion as they managed to beat Venezia in relatively comfortable fashion. The game did, however, take 62 minutes to see a goal, but shortly after, their lead was never really in doubt and they can surely be classed as top four contenders once more.
Elif Elmas also scored that day to give the club a 2-0 and he may be in for a start after coming on last time out and scoring. On the other hand, Victor Osimhen managed to get sent off that day and he will now miss this game and Elmas should come in as a direct replacement, or Hirving Lozano.
This is going to be a really tough game for Genoa. They showed little to no signs of competing with the top guns in the league against Inter, and given Napoli’s vengeance to regain a spot in the Champions League, this is going to be a tough game for them.
With this in mind and the form of both sides, Forebet predicts an easy win for the travelling side from Naples and they could end up throwing a few goals in the face of this struggling Genoa side.
