There are several English Premier League fixtures to be played on Saturday afternoon including the meeting between Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The match will be played at the King Power Stadium, with the hosts hoping to finish in the top four this season and the visitors adjusting to life after Nuno Espírito Santo.

Leicester City enjoyed an excellent 2020/21 season, during which they finished fifth in the Premier League and won the FA Cup. On paper, this is brilliant and The Foxes did well to finish above the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal. However, there was huge disappointment in missing out on a Champions League qualifying position having been in the top four for much of the season. This is something Brendan Rodgers will have to ensure does not happen again.

Leicester City were struggling to pick up a win in the early stages of preseason but finished strongly with wins over Villarreal in a friendly and Manchester City in the Community Shield. The latter was a good 1-0 win secured from the penalty spot in the 89th minute, all be it against an under strength Manchester City team.

Leicester City struggled at the end of last season and have won 2 of their last 5 home Premier League fixtures. They have scored 2 or more goals in 5 of their last 6 home league games but will be looking to improve defensively having conceded 9 goals in their last 3 Premier League matches at the King Power Stadium.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have a new manager in Bruno Lage but have decided to continue with the Portuguese influence at the club. Lage was recently the manager of Benfica but left the club in the 2019/20 season having equalled Benfica's worst ever series of results, picking up just 2 wins in 13 games.

Wolves have had a mixed bag of results in preseason, recording wins over Real Betis and Coventry City but tasting defeat against Crewe Alexandra, Las Palmas, and Celta Vigo, the latter of which was their most recent game.

Wolves struggled away from home towards the end of last season in the Premier League and have won just 2 of their 14 most recent away league matches. Trends show in Wolves last 5 away Premier League games there have been under 2.5 goals scored.

Team news and Leicester City will be without injured central defenders Wesley Fofana and Jonny Evans. Caglar Soyuncu and Daniel Amartey could start in central defence. Timothy Castagne and James Justin are also out of action, meaning Ricardo Pereira and Ryan Bertrand playing in the full-back position. Harvey Barnes is back from injury and will start.

Wolves will hand a Premier League debut to goalkeeper José Sá. Francisco Trincão, who is on loan from Barcelona, could start in attack and star striker Raul Jimenez is back having suffered a skull fracture last season.

Leicester City may be missing a significant number of players in defence but their performance in the Community Shield match suggests they could have enough to keep Wolves out. With the likes of Jamie Vardy, James Maddison, and Harvey Barnes in attack, The Foxes could score a couple of goals and win this game to nil.
