On Wednesday morning, Pohang Steelers host Seongnam at the Steelyard Stadium, as both teams look to get back to winning ways in the South Korean K-League.
Pohang Steelers currently occupy the last spot in the Championship group but are just a point clear of seventh place Suwon. However, the home side could move up to fifth in the table with a win and still have games in hand on some of the teams above them.
Kim Gi-Dong’s side’s inconsistent recent league form has not helped their chances of moving up the K-League table, as they have won just once in their last four league outings. A 1-1 draw at Daegu was their fourth straight K-League game that produced under 2.5 goals.
Pohang Steelers have struggled for league wins on home soil of late, as they head into this clash on the back of just two wins from their previous nine home games.
Their recent K-League matches have also been low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in their last five matches.
Seongnam are 12th and last place in the K-League table, but all is not yet lost for the visitors as they are just two points adrift of 10th place FC Seoul. They also have at least a game in hand on all the teams above them.
Unsurprisingly, considering their lowly position in the table, Seongnam’s recent form has been poor as they have failed to win in their last ten matches in the K-League. Last time out they drew 0-0 with 11th place Gwangju.
The visitors have failed to win in their last seven games on their travels. However, they have also lost just one of the seven matches, as six of the games have finished in draws.
