Saturday’s action in the Swedish top flight features an intriguing clash between 7th placed hosts, Degerfors, and the current Allsvenskan league leaders, Malmo, at the Stora Valla ground with the hosts looking to produce a response following a heavy defeat last time out.
Degerfors had previously put together a promising five-match unbeaten sequence in the Allsvenskan which included victories against Djurgarden 2-0, Orebro 3-0 and Ostersunds 3-1 but this run of results were brought crashing down in a heavy 5-1 hammering away from home at Hammarby.

As a result, Degerfors remain in 7th place but are now five points adrift of the top three and 3rd placed Elfsborg prior to this difficult looking encounter against Malmo on the weekend, but nevertheless, goals are expected to feature here.
Following a 1-0 loss to Kalmar in their opening home game of the season, Degerfors have bounced back in positive fashion at their Stora Valla ground with three wins on the trot, scoring eight goals in the process with striker Edvardsen (6 goals) leading the way.
Malmo bounced back from their recent 3-2 defeat away from home at Norrkoping last time out in the Allsvenskan when they recorded a 4-0 trouncing of Sirius on home turf at their Eleda Stadion to remain at the top of the division.
Only two points separate Malmo from 2nd placed Djurgarden though, and with another away-day looming, Malmo can ill afford to drop further points on the road this Saturday if they want to stay top of the pile.
Malmo have suffered just the two defeats so far in this season’s Allsvenskan campaign, both of which were away from home with losses incurred at Djurgarden 3-1 and the aforementioned 3-2 loss at Norrkoping.
The majority of Malmo’s success this term has been achieved on home turf at their Eleda Stadion where they’ve won five out of their total of seven wins to date this season, but results on the road haven’t been quite so convincing.
2 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats make up Malmo’s five results to date so far this season but although the visitors have been fairly inconsistent on their travels, the prospect of goals looks likely.
Four of Malmo’s five away games this term have resulted in over 2.5 goals while the bigger picture shows 13 of Malmo’s last 17 away games have also produced three goals or more.
With eight of the last nine meetings between Degerfors and Malmo also seeing over 2.5 goals scored, this trend may well continue on Saturday.
