Joint-league leaders of Serie A, Palmeiras, will be bidding to move three points clear of Bragantino when they play host to Santos at their Allianz Parque ground on Saturday afternoon, and having won their last four matches on the trot, Palmeiras look set to add to their points tally here.
Recent wins against Bahia, Internacional, Sport Recife and Gremio will give Palmeiras plenty of confidence and momentum into this upcoming clash against Santos and although they’ve suffered two defeats so far this season, the hosts are now building up a head of steam.

With just one loss from their last nine matches overall in the Brazilian top flight which came in the form of a 3-1 loss away at Bragantino, Palmeiras have otherwise been pretty consistent as they’ve won seven of these last nine matches.
The bigger picture shows that Palmeiras are unbeaten in their last 16 matches on home turf at Allianz Parque, an impressive sequence of results which include 11 victories and eight clean sheets, while also winning the last four meetings at home on the trot against Santos as well.
Santos currently sit in 7th place on the Serie A standings thanks to a midweek 2-1 home win against Athletico PR, but the visitors face a tough outing to the league leaders, Palmeiras, this Saturday afternoon.
Recent results have been a mixed bag though for Santos as they’ve won just four of their last 12 matches overall, with victories picked up against Ceara, Sao Paulo, Atletico Mineiro and Athletico PR, while also losing four games as well.
Losses to Bahia (twice, either side of last season and this), Fluminense and America Mineiro perhaps show Santos’s vulnerability and although the majority of Santos’s success has been achieved on home turf at their Estádio Urbano Caldeira, results away from home have been poor by comparison.
Santos have actually picked up just the one win from their previous 15 matches on their travels in the Brazilian top flight which came in the shape of a 1-0 win at Sao Paulo but 10 defeats within this period suggest that Santos will have their work cut out here this Saturday.
With just one clean sheet and failing to score in eight of these 15 away matches, Santos look set for a turbulent time at Palmeiras.
