With Manchester City vs. Arsenal scheduled for next Wednesday, Round 29 will be a double gameweek for both the Cityzens and the Gunners. Arsenal face West Ham on Saturday, while Man City have the Manchester derby to look forward to on Sunday.
So, with that in mind, here are this week’s top FPL picks.
Bernd Leno – Arsenal
Remarkably, Leno is currently Arsenal’s second-highest scoring player in FPL this season. It’s fair to say that the Gunners have endured a turbulent 2019/20 campaign so far, but the German shot-stopper has undoubtedly been one of Arsenal’s standout performers this term.
Marcos Alonso – Chelsea
After sitting out much of the season, Marcos Alonso appears to be back in favour at Stamford Bridge. The attacking left-back has scored three goals in his last two starts and also impressed in the FA Cup victory over Liverpool in midweek. With four goals and three assists in just ten league appearances this season, Alonso is likely to be in the thick of the action again this weekend.
Kyle Walker – Manchester City
Walker was rested for Man City’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday in midweek, so the right-back is expected to return to Pep Guardiola’s side against Manchester United on Sunday. Walker has started the past four Premier League games and could have a big part to play in the derby.
Ismaila Sarr – Watford
Following a stunning performance against Liverpool last weekend – two goals/one assist – Ismaila Sarr will be brimming with confidence heading into Matchday 29. In fact, the Watford winger has notched up four goals and four assists in his last eight appearances, so you’d be foolish to leave him out of your team at the moment.
Riyad Mahrez – Manchester City
We know that Guardiola likes to tinker with his starting lineup, but Riyad Mahrez has started 14 of Man City’s previous 15 league games. The tricky Algerian has seven goals and ten assists to his name this term, and a double gameweek provides Mahrez with the perfect opportunity to add to his tally.
Michael Obafemi – Southampton
Obafemi has featured in each of Saints’ last five games and netted his second goal of the season at West Ham last time out. With a favourable home game against Newcastle up next, Obafemi is in line to start for Ralph Hassenhutl’s side this weekend. He is also an excellent value pick (4.9) and is owned by just 0.2% of FPL managers.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – Arsenal
The Gunners striker has bagged three goals since returning from suspension – taking his recent tally to six goals in seven appearances. Aubameyang is one of the most lethal forwards in the division, and he has two games on the horizon to showcase what he’s about.
