We are already halfway through the season and it seems that the battle for the first place is getting even more intense. Let’s take a look at some predictions for the upcoming round of fixtures in Belarus’ top flight league.
This Saturday, BATE Borisov host the mediocre team of Slavia Mozyr at their Borisov Arena.
The home side weren’t able to win the league title last season, therefore they will be aiming for a win this weekend, which will give them an advantage in the race for the first place. Slavia Mozyr have lost 3 of their last 6 fixtures and their shaky performance has left them at the 11th spot in table.
Shakhter Soligorsk will try to increase their leadership on top of the table this weekend, when they face FK Gorodeya.
The away side are just above the relegation zone and they can’t afford to lose more points. Shakhter Soligorsk are the current league leaders, due to their better goal difference but they have a long way to go before winning the title.
Another interesting fixture will be held this Sunday, when Energetik-BGU host Ruk Brest at their RCOR-BGU Stadium.
The hosts currently occupy the 4th spot in the league standing, but they will be striving for a place in top 3, which will give them a chance to qualify for the European tournaments. Rukh Brest, on the other hand, are nowhere near where they aspire to be, due to their inconsistent performance.
Dinamo Minsk face FK Minsk in a local derby this weekend.
The new campaign isn’t going well for the home side, who currently occupy the 7th spot. FK Minsk need to improve as well, if they want to remain in the Premier League.
