Serie A moves into matchday No. 2 with Napoli on top of the league after a 5-2 win over Hellas Verona. The first matchday of Serie A saw five wins for home teams, five wins for away sides, and zero draws. Plenty of goals were scored as over 2.5 goals were tallied in seven of the 10 matches.
Udinese host Salernitana at the Stadio Friuli. The away side won both matches last term and Salernitana will fancy their chances of all three points.
Salernitana lost 1-0 at home to Roma on opening day. The Granata will feel confident of getting points against Udinese. The Zebrette have not had a lot of success in recent seasons and this could be a six-point affair between two sides that will end in the lower half of the table.
Udinese also lost on opening day. They fell 4-2 to AC Milan at San Siro. A second straight loss would put Udinese behind significantly in the race for European places.
Inter Milan will host Spezia at the San Siro as they seek to stay unbeaten against the Serie A minnow. The Nerazzurri have a record of 3W-1D-0L in four matches against Spezia.
Last season, Inter Milan did the double over Spezia with a 2-0 home win and 3-1 away victory. The Nerazzurri won 2-1 against Lecce on opening day. There have been over 2.5 goals in Inter’s last eight Serie A games.
Spezia also won on matchday 1. They downed Empoli 1-0 thanks to a M’Bala Nzola.
It is a Tuscan Derby as Empoli host Fiorentina on Sunday. Empoli fell 1-0 to Spezia on opening day to continue their poor form that carried over from last season. Fiorentina have a record of 3W-0D-3L against Empoli in their last six meetings.
The home team has won the last four matches between these sides. Empoli won at home last term 2-1. The Azzurri have won the last two matches versus Fiorentina played at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.
Fiorentina claimed a 3-2 win over newly-promoted Cremonese on matchday No. 1. La Viola new boys Luka Jovic and Rolando Mandragora got onto the scoresheet.
Bologna have a record of 2W-3D-1L against Hellas Verona in their last six head-to-head meetings. The home team has never lost when these teams have met in the last six games.
Bologna started the new season with a 2-1 loss to Lazio. Mark Arnautovic got the team’s only goal from the penalty spot. Adama Soumaoro was sent off for the Rossoblu and won’t be available for the clash with Hellas.
Hellas Verona lost 5-2 to Napoli to kick off the season. Last campaign, Hellas thrived courtesy of goals from Giovanni Simeone. Unfortunately for the Gialloblu, Simeone has joined Napoli.
